Fighting Back Against Parkinson's

Rock Steady Boxing, a unique exercise program for people with Parkinson's disease, based on training used by boxing pros, and adapted to people with Parkinson’s disease, will now be available again at the Whatcom Family YMCA. Several medical studies on exercise and Parkinson’s have concluded that moderate to high intensity exercise can slow the progression of Parkinson’s. The program involves regular exercises, such as stretching, bicycling, running, jump-roping, push-ups, balancing, and lots of non-contact boxing, led by experienced trainers/coaches.

Boxers train to improve:

  • Balance
  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Speed of movement
  • Agility
  • Muscle power
  • Mental focus
  • Rhythm

Rock Steady Boxing will begin on January 9 and will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:45-10:45 am.
Pre-registration is required. For more information, please contact Karrie Inman, at, or at 360 255 0646.
