Program Information

AGES: Youth ages 7 - 11

The Trail Blazers program is for adventurous kids in 2nd–6th grades. We encourage youth to challenge themselves wherever their ability lies! We cover approximately 2 - 3 miles on a new trail each week. Trained coaches run with each groups of kids to ensure safety, proper trail etiquette, and fun!

Groups will meet at a different location each week. The Y will provide transportation to the trailhead from seven schools (Birchwood, Happy Valley, Roosevelt, Parkview, Sunnyland, Columbia, and Cedar Tree).

Any 2nd - 6th graders who have their own transportation are welcome to join ANY of our teams via the Participant Drop Off Option.

Goals of the Program

  • Use trail running, jogging, and power walking as a fun way to exercise and explore new places.
  • Learn and practice core concepts of teamwork, leadership, and outdoor stewardship.
