Youth Basketball

HOOP IT UP

Basketball programs for ages 3-12 years.  Youth basketball is an exciting sport combining team play and individual skills. YMCA youth basketball has no bench warmers! Every child plays while making friends and learning new techniques. The YMCA is where most children receive their first experience with sports in a non-competitive environment. We continue to be that place to nurture the potential of children and provide teamwork opportunities in a fun, supportive way.

Basketball League

A non-competitive basketball league coached by volunteers. Games/practices are 45 minutes. Participants and spectators must remain in the gymnasium during the duration of the program. Bathrooms are available on the third floor of the Whatcom Family YMCA for participants and spectators. Anyone above the age of 16 must provide photo identification upon arrival at the Whatcom Family YMCA. Coaches needed! Email kclogston@whatcomymca.org if interested.

All games will be played on Thursdays between 4 and 8pm at the Whatcom Family YMCA. With few exceptions younger age groups will be scheduled earlier and older age groups will be scheduled later in the evening.

Basketball Clinics

Our basketball skill-building clinics provide a brief, flexible option for families interested in introducing their children to basketball or enhancing their skills prior to joining our basketball leagues. When you enroll your child in one of our skill-building sessions, they will participate in four 45-minute basketball classes led by our experienced YMCA basketball coaches. Email kclogston@whatcomymca.org if interested.

Stay tuned for more clinics coming soon!
