Fall Volleyball Clinic | Ages 5–8 & 9–12

At the Y, youth sports are more than just games; they’re opportunities to build confidence, teamwork, and a love for learning through play. This fall, our Volleyball Clinic introduces young players to the sport in a fun, welcoming environment. No prior experience is required!


Who Can Participate

  • Ages 5–8 (beginner-friendly skill games)

  • Ages 9–12 (skill progressions & scrimmages)


Dates & Times

Wednesdays, October 15, 22 & 29, 2025

  • Ages 5–8: 4:30–5:45 PM

  • Ages 9–12: 6–7:15 PM

Location: Whatcom Family YMCA | 1256 N State Street, Bellingham, WA 98225


Cost & Registration

  • $40 for Y Members

  • $60 for Non-Members

What Kids Will Learn

Ages 5–8:

  • Movement & court awareness games

  • Passing practice with balloons & soft balls

  • Playful serving games

  • Short team games focused on participation

Ages 9–12:

  • Forearm & overhead passing, serving mechanics

  • Partner drills and small-sided games

  • Intro to rotations & scrimmages

  • Game-like challenges to encourage teamwork & communication

Weekly Focus:

  • October 15: Ball control; passing & movement

  • October 22: Serving fundamentals & court awareness

  • October 29: Team play & scrimmages


What to Bring

  • Comfortable athletic clothes & sneakers (no cleats)

  • Water bottle

  • Optional: knee pads (recommended for older players)

  • Please arrive 10 minutes early for check-in

Parents are welcome to watch from the side!


Our Approach

At the Y, safety and fun come first. Our trained coaches use age-appropriate instruction, small-sided games, and lots of repetition through play to help every child succeed.
