Get Ready, Facility Improvement Week is Almost Here!
From Sunday, August 30 through Monday, September 7, we'll be hosting a Facility Improvement Week, a dedicated stretch of time to make strategic updates to our building for you and our community.
This week allows us to complete projects that simply aren't possible while the Y is operating at full capacity. We'll be tackling deep cleaning, preventative maintenance, repairs and facility upgrades that help keep your Y safe, welcoming and ready to serve our community.
Here's what to expect:
-
During this time, there will not be member access to the facility or
programs that run onsite at our downtown Bellingham location.
Off-site programs, including child care (BASE, ELC) and youth soccer,
will continue as normal.
-
We'll have support staff available at the Welcome Center for
in-person or phone registrations, paperwork, or questions Tuesday,
September 1–Friday, September 4, from 8am–5pm.
-
The Women's Locker Rooms are getting some upgrades and a leak fix.
Due to the type of work needed, that area is already closed and will
remain closed through the remainder of Facility Improvement Week.
In the meantime, members who typically use the Women's Locker Room
can use the first-floor changing rooms.
- The Gymnasium will also be closing earlier than originally planned, beginning Friday, August 28 at 9am, ahead of the full Facility Improvement Week schedule.
The Building Is Closed. Your Y Community Isn’t.
While we’re working inside, there are still plenty of ways to move, connect and spend time together throughout the week. Join your Y community outside or online!

A Commitment to Serving Our Members
We're using this time to invest in the building we all share, making it safer, cleaner, and better able to serve you and our community. We'll share photos along the way so you can watch the progress come together.
This spirit of improvement is already in motion. Thanks to our
cooperation with the City of Bellingham, we now have two dedicated ADA
parking spots in front of our building for our members and community to
use.
Thank you for understanding. We can't wait to show you the results, because there's No Place Like This Place.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback, we'd love to hear from you. Please feel free to email us anytime at ymca@whatcomymca.org.
