Y’S KIDS ENRICHMENT FOR EMERGENCY PERSONNEL

In the past week, the Whatcom Family YMCA and Ys throughout the nation have been contacted by emergency services about providing childcare for their mission-critical staff. At the same time, we have heard an uproar of concern from families in Y programs: Without schools in session, they cannot work, and without work, they cannot provide for their families.

With the support and assistance of Whatcom County and public health officials, the Y is currently offering full-day emergency K-5th programs for EMS, law enforcement, firefighters, medical staff, pharmacy staff, and grocery store workers.

During this enrichment program, children will enjoy arts, crafts, STEM, active play, learning loss support and supervision from our experienced Y staff.

Who Can Receive Care?

Children whose parents are first responders,  medical personnel or work in a pharmacy or grocery store.
