SUMMER FUN ON THE RUN

Meeting in small groups and following social distancing guidelines, Girls on the Run and Trail Blazers are BACK this summer!  Teams will meet with friends and coaches for 8 weeks. Each team will run its own 5K and celebrate during the last week of practice. Participants will receive a t-shirt, activity journal and finisher's medal for the 5K at the end of the season.

We will be following the Washington State Safe Start plan, which will include mask wearing, physical distancing and no sharing of materials. See below for the configuration of teams based on which Washington State Safe Start phase we are in:

WA State Phase 2 Plan:  Groups of five (including one coach) per team with a second team separate but at the same park.

WA State Phase 3 Plan:  Two groups combine to make a team of 10 with additional spots being added.

Girls on the Run

Trained coaches will lead our small summer teams through the Girls on the Run curricula which includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games.

Over the course of the eight-week program, girls in 3rd – 6th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their world. The summer culminates with the girls positively impacting their community through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k with their team.

Trail Blazers

Trail Blazers will meet at a different trail each week. We will run and hike  2 – 3 miles each day that we meet.

We’ll explore beaches and forests, make friends, challenge ourselves, build and clean up trails and get dirty! Awesome coaches run with small groups of kids to ensure safety, proper trail etiquette and FUN! The focus is on doing one’s personal best, not competing with each other.
