Run Like A Girl

Run Like a Girl For a Girl

The sun was shining and the sky a brilliant blue.  This was the perfect day to Run Like a Girl!  Anyone can Run Like a Girl and support scholarships for Whatcom County’s young girls.  On this day over 300 women, men and dogs laced up their shoes, donned their most festive running gear and trotted down the Interurban Trail for a cause (and FUN!).  They can choose a Half Marathon, a 10K or even something in-between if it tickles their fancy.

Eleven years ago Cyndi Meuchel, co-founder of Money Minder - a software company for non-profits,  created this non-competitive run for 30 participants. There was a bit of money left over from the event and she decided to donate the funds to Girls on the Run scholarships.  The rest is history! The event has since grown by more than ten-fold and raises thousands of dollars for GOTR each year.  Included in the weekend is a pre-run dinner which features information about the empowering program for elementary aged girls as well as a silent auction and plenty of fun and games.

Mark your 2019 calendar for the first weekend in October so you, too, can Run Like a Girl!
