This 12-week learning program, developed in partnership with providers and professionals at Seattle Children’s Hospital, provides engaging lessons on healthy nutrition, activity, and lifestyles and is designed for kids ages 8-14 and their parents and/or their adult care provider. By actively changing together, parents and kids can learn how to engage in healthy lifestyles as a family.
This program requires a referral from a medical provider. We accept referrals from many types of medical providers, including primary care, and specialist physicians, nursing staff, registered dietitians, school nurses, and physical therapists.
The program runs for 12 weeks and meets weekly.The 90 sessions include energizing games and activities and healthy meal preparation and cooking tips or demonstrations. Specially trained Y staff offer guidance and encouragement for eating well, playing often, and preventing health conditions associated with being overweight.

ACT! is a once a week 12-week program for youth, 8-14 years old and their parents/guardians, that promotes healthy nutrition and physical activity. Developed in partnership with providers and professionals at Seattle Children's Hospital and the YMCA of Greater Seattle, ACT! helps families make positive lifestyle changes.
The ACT! Program appeals to families by providing engaging fun and educational activities. By actively changing together, families can learn how to create healthy habits. Specially trained Y staff offer guidance and encouragement for eating well, playing often and preventing health conditions associated with being overweight.

A healthcare provider referral is required to enroll (may be a MD/DO, RN, RD or any licensed healthcare provider).
Your healthcare provider can complete the referral and fax it to the YMCA at 360-255-7098 or email to Mary E.C. Latta, mlatta@whatcomymca.org. An ACT! team member will contact interested families.
