Whatcom Family YMCA
The Whatcom Family YMCA is a powerful association of men, women, and children committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. With five locations, Bellingham, Ferndale, Lynden and Barkley (childcare only), we serve our local community with programs for the spirit, mind, and body. The Y provides enrichment opportunities for all ages, from babies to senior citizens and everyone in between. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure everyone - regardless of age, income or background - can grow and thrive. Our purpose is to strengthen the foundations of our community, and everything we do is grounded in this goal.
The following are the Whatcom Family Y’s three pillars for success:
Youth Development - We strive to meet the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs that all young people face from birth to adulthood.
Healthy Living - We aim to improve the health and well-being of Whatcom County residents.
Social Responsibility - We seek to alleviate the communities’ critical and social needs.
In addition to our focus areas, the Y’s core values play a crucial role in creating an ethical community through honesty, caring, respect and responsibility. The Y implements these values in everything we do.
The Whatcom Family YMCA offers everything from youth sports to swim lessons, exercise classes, Pedaling for Parkinson’s and SilverSneakers for our active aging population at our program centers. The Y’s presence is also profoundly felt throughout Whatcom County through our after-school enrichment programs, two of which are located in Nooksack and Kendall Elementary schools. We plan to build on this and extend our reach even further into the county in order to impact underserved areas outside of Bellingham.
